Questions & Answers

Larry’s Small Batch Sweet Corn is available at Whole Food Markets in the Mid Atlantic Region and online in Amazon in the Whole Foods section.

We do not add any sugar. Our corn is so sweet because we pick it at peak harvest when the natural sugar levels are at their highest. Also, the variety of corn we use is known for being sweet, tender, and juicy.

Larry’s Sweet Corn has no rivals because we go to great lengths to maximize its natural taste and flavor.  We grow our special Non-GMO variety of corn on small family farms and pick it at absolute peak harvest.  We then process the corn the old fashioned way and preserve the natural’s juices with the kernels.  Finally, we freeze it immediately after it is picked to lock in all that natural goodness. Of course, our corn does not contain any additives of any kind, including sugars, sweeteners, coloring, salt, water, and preservatives.  It is just 100% sweet corn, and you can taste its quality in every bite.

We are firm believers that there are only one or two days when corn has reached its peak harvest. That is why we walk each field several times on foot only harvesting those ears which qualify for that day’s pickings. Then, we preserve that quality as quickly as possible. Once you try it, you will understand what Larry’s Small Batch Sweet Corn is all about.
Freezing is by far the best way to preserve sweet corn because it is the only way to capture all the corn’s goodness the moment it leaves the field. Canned corn has to be cooked for an hour and 20 minutes inside of the can to meet safety standards which completely destroys the structure and taste of the corn. Frozen corn, on the other hand, only has to be cooked for a few minutes preserving all its great natural taste. Several studies have shown that freezing vegetables “locks in” important vitamins and stops the loss of nutrients. That is why you can pull a container out of the freezer anytime, and it has that fresh, corn-on-the-cob taste!
There are two ways to cut corn: whole kernel and cream style. Whole kernel corn is generated when the entire corn kernel is cut off completely intact, a method only used for harder kernel corn. Larry’s Sweet Corn, which is the type of corn usually eaten on the cob, is too juicy to be preserved that way. We use the cream style method where the top two thirds of the kernel is sliced off and it is preserved along with all the corn’s natural juices. No cream is added in cream style corn, but the milky juice generated makes it appear creamy.
We offer the best corn on the market, and we do not take any short cuts which would sacrifice quality. We have a rigorous time-consuming process to maintain its quality and flavor, and it requires a lot of manual labor. We also work with small family farmers and pay fair wages to everyone. Although it is slightly more expensive than other sweet corn, the quality of this product is definitely worth the extra cost.

Our mission is to rejuvenate rural farming communities by providing jobs through sustainable farming.  To that end, our little operation has already benefited many people from the small family farmers contracted to grow the corn to the local Amish community and Future Farmers of America members who produce the corn.  All our workers are from our little farming community, and most of our families have known each other for generations.  We are simply trying to find an outlet for the high-quality products which the community has produced for ourselves for many years.  We have also partnered with the local Future Farmers of America group to try to foster young people’s interest in organic farming.

Generation Green got started because every time we served our dad’s sweet corn at parties it was a huge success. Our friends absolutely loved it and soon began requesting it every time they came over. It slowly became evident that there is nothing comparable to it on the market and that there was a large, unfilled need. Like a great coffee or wine, it is hard to go back to standard corn once you have tried Larry’s Sweet Corn.

No, we are just getting started.  We are looking into other products and, hopefully, will be able to offer more soon.

We currently offer only 16 ounce containers but expect to offer different sizes in the near future.
